During the Google I/O keynote, the search and Internet advertising provider released a rapid-fire stream of announcements at its developer conference, including several unveilings of the latest things it's working on.
Since we know you don't always have time to watch a two-hour presentation, the TechCrunch team took it upon themselves to deliver story after story on new products and features. Google Maps has rolled out a new "immersive view for routes" feature in select cities. A new feature brings all the information together, including traffic simulations, bike lanes, important intersections, parking, and more.
We've always wanted to change something about the photos we take, and now Google's Magic Editor feature can be AI-powered to perform more complex edits on specific parts of a photo — the forebackground or background, for example — and gaps. Fill in the middle. Reposition the photo or subject for a better framed shot.
There's also a new feature called Magic Compose, which was demoed today, which shows it's being used to compose messages and conversations as well as rewrite text in different styles. For example, the feature can make the message more positive or more professional, or you can have fun with it and make the message look like it was written by "your favorite playwright, aka Shakespeare".
